Today's episode of Redefining Medicine features David Ludwig, MD. After receiving a PhD and MD from Stanford University School of Medicine, Dr. Ludwig spearheaded clinical research surrounding the causes of obesity in children and adults, and began to craft a new perspective on the biology of weight loss. Currently serving as professor of nutrition and pediatrics at Harvard University, Dr. Ludwig is also director of the New Balance Foundation Obesity Prevention Center at Boston Children's Hospital. Author of the book "Always Hungry?," Dr. Ludwig's findings have contributed to targeting the causes--not symptoms--of weight gain, helped shift the standard, traditional paradigm of metabolism and nutrition, and restructured conventional methods of weight loss and dieting. Dr. Ludwig is joined by his wife, chef Dawn Ludwig, whose recipes were featured in "Always Hungry?"
